Athens is a vast, sprawling city as buildings had a restriction on height in order that everyone could enjoy as much of the sunshine and daylight as possible. Due to the limited time a visitor may have in Athens it is very important to acquire a spherical impression of the city and its wider area. Athens is built in the Attica basin, surrounded by Mt. Ymittos in the South East, Pendeli Mountain(where the white marble of the Parthenon comes from) to the North East, with Parnitha Range to the North West and Egaleo to the West. The basin itself has several hills, Lykavitos with its picturesque white-washed church of St.George on the hilltop, the Acropolis with the Parthenon and several other smaller hills covered in pine trees. From your hotel drive to Spata airport through various residential areas. Having completed formalities at the airport you will board your helicopter for your flight over Athens. Fly over the rich wine growing area of Spata where the well known Savatiano grape variety grows, to Palini and Glyka Nera. Continue south towards the city and enjoy a bird's eye view of the Olympic Stadium where the 2004 Olympic Games will be held. Continue to the marble Stadium built for the first modern Olympic Games of 1896, fly over the Presidential Palace and the Parliament building with the National Gardens and the Zappion Exhibition Center, built in the 19th century. Then magnificent spectacle of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, the temple which has become the example of classical art throughout the ages will numb your senses with sheer enthusiasm. The Parthenon and the other temples comprising the Acropolis complex are made of white marble from the Pendeli Mountains. Your flight will take you over the picturesque yacht harbours of Mikrolimano overlooked by the Hill of Castella. Fly across the harbour of Zea, towards the southern coastal suburbs on your way to Spata airport where your flight will end.
